Freeze damage can cause your check valve to leak. Do not cut plumbing!! You can replace several of the parts. The lid assembly for the 2″ valve includes the clear lid, o-ring and spring loaded flap. The part number is 600-7300(lower image). The oring is available by itself (805-0239) The lock ring is #718-7027. The entire TruSeal Swing Check valve is also available
Replacing the jet diffuser can be a good option if the tabs that hold the jet into the housing are broken and the rest of the diffuser looks in good condition. If the diffuser is flaking and becoming brittle it is recommended to replace the entire jet. Why? If the diffuser is deteriorating then the rest of the jet internals including the bearings probably are too. This is caused by low Alkalinity, pH or Calcium. The white residue that is coming of the diffuser isn’t usually scale but the plastic deteriorating. In this case replacing the diffuser may be a short term fix, but you will most likely need a new jet soon.
Coast Spas 4.5 HP Yellow “wet end”. The pump’s internal parts as well as the housing and motor can go bad and require replacement. When determining the magic number of replacement parts cost versus cost of whole pump, we generally suggest 60-75% as the standard. If the cost to repair is within or over this range, it is smarter to replace the pump. As example, if the cost of the impeller, ceramic seal, faceplate oring, and wear ring exceed 60% of the cost of the entire “wet end”, it is advised to purchase the entire wet end.
