Waterway Pump Trap Lid

8 Jan

Waterway pumps often have a “leaf trap” in front of the “pump”. Homeowners describe this as a “pre filter”, “basket”, or just plain “pump”. The see-through lid has been re designed, however, they are interchangeable.

There is a small decal on the center of the lid. It may have a “W” on it, or it may be an American flag. Both have part numbers on them, however, the numbers are for the decal itself not the lid.

808-3150.1008 and 808-3150.0413 are part numbers for decals.

Since 2014 the  replacement lid part number is 319-4100

The “new ” lid is two pieces and easier to remove. Again, they are interchangeable and both require the exact same o-ring  805-0436

What price to repair Waterway Valve?

23 Oct

There are a few different methods to repair your Waterway multi-port 7 position valve.

Of course the least expensive way is also the most labor intensive. You can purchase the “spider gasket” only , Part 711-1910B, for about $15. However, you will need to remove the valve internals, clean off the diverter, and the difficult part is attaching the new gasket to the old diverter. Waterway suggests this method for seasoned pool professionals only. You may also purchase the “plug” , which is the spider gasket attached to the diverter from the factory , this costs $36 (Part 600-9500b). The easiest and most successful method is to replace the “key cover” (Part 600-9600b). You simply remove the bolts from the top of the valve and pull out the old internals and install the new ones. A notch in the cover prevents you from installing it in the wrong position. The key cover will get you a new spring, handle, lid o-ring, spider gasket, and washers. Cost  600-9600B is $85. Although the entire new valve is $110,  you will need to disconnect all the hoses on the filter and risk breaking the tank internal laterals to replace entire valve.  If your leak is  a cracked valve body (from over tightened fittings or freeze damage) you may not have a choice. ECO-KLEER SAND FILTERS

16 Jun

ECO-KLEER FONT

Waterwayparts.com can help you with your Eco-Kleer sand filter. If you need a parts list or replacement parts we ask you email your requests to sales@waterwayparts.com.

Because some of the parts may change from year model it is always helpful to include a image of your particular filter system.

Sand in your filter should be changed every 3-5 years. This might be a good time to inspect the laterals in the bottom of your tank to be sure they have not developed any cracks. If you have been getting sand shot back into your pool this could be the problem.

There are other issues that can cause the same problem. If the “spider gasket” in your top mount multi port valve is worn , or the spring in the valve is weak, or you have incorrectly attached your filter hoses you may also see sand on the bottom of your above ground pool.

Waterwayparts.com has all the parts needed to repair the multi-port valve or you may want to just purchase an entire new valve. Just email any questions to sales@waterwayparts.com

Waterway Sand Filter Caps

Yes, both caps are approximately 2 3/8″ inside thread diameter. They are NOT interchangeable. Look closely at the threads. 602-5321(middle photo) has a rounded thread. This is the current style. The older cap(bottom) 602-5301 has a much sharper angled  thread. The change occurred in about 2010. If you can not remember what shape the old drain cap was round or hexagon you will need to examine the threads on the sand tank. Both caps require the same o ring (805-0224). All these parts are available at http://www.waterwayparts.com

IN 2021 BOTH REPLACEMENT CAPS WERE PRODUCED IN THE HEXAGON SHAPE . THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS THE TYPE OF THREAD. AGAIN THEY ARE NOT INTERCHANGEABLE.

Automatic Chlorinators

20 Jan

The Waterway automatic chlorinator is a very efficient way to chlorinate your pool with large or small Trichlor tablets or Bromine slow-dissolving tablets to make sanitizing your pool or spa easy and automatic. If you do not have this unit, your options are;

1. Put the tablets in a floater

2. Put the tablets in the skimmer basket

3. Put the tablets in the pump basket

Any one of these three options will present you with a problem. The use of a floater is the lack of the ability to get the proper amount of chlorine in your pool. Since you do not have water flowing into the floater to dissolve the tablets, your pool water is going to be usually low in chlorine with the result being green water and algae build up.

When you place the tablets into your skimmer basket, they dissolve very quickly and it becomes very difficult to maintain the proper amount of chlorine in the pool. It can also deteriorate your skimmer basket and the seals and o-rings on your pump and filter. If you turn the pump off, chlorine will flow back into your pool causing a white stain in front of your skimmer.

If you place the tablets into your pump basket, they are also dissolving very quickly here and chlorine levels could be too high. This also will cause your pump seal to start leaking and your o-rings to wear out quickly with possible pump damage.

The automatic chlorinator is installed after the filter in the water return line going to the pool. It should be the last thing the water goes through before returning to your pool. These units are completely enclosed systems – no escaping fumes. Simple, trouble-free designs with no special venting required. Top loading makes it easy to add chemicals. You remove the lid and place the tablets inside. There is a control knob with different settings that will let you control the amount of chlorine being released into your pool. Note that every pool is different and you will need to adjust the settings based on your particular pool. Automatic chlorinators save time, reduce manual handling of chemicals and take the work and worry out of keeping your pool sparkling clean and ready to use.  Try the Waterway CLC 012  @ waterwayparts.com
