WATERWAY Crystal Water filter

PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE SYSTEM REPLACEMENT

The pressure relief valve from the Crystal Water filter systems acts like a handle for the filter lid, pressure gauge, and air relief sytem. The “new” model (2022) will replace all older versions. The valve is interchangable with all previos models and is an improvement to the durability of the pressure relief.

Clearwater pressure gauge parts

Pressure gauge Adapter Fitting 519-7431 is a double threaded reducer bushing, 1/2″ x 1/4″, to attach the pressure gauge (sold separately) to the ClearWater II pool filter tank. 1/4″ FPT threads accept the pressure gauge and 1/2″ MPT threads pass to the inside of the tank, where they are secured by a large Wing Nut (519-7441)ZWWY2127

Newer models of the Waterway Pro Clean Plus filters (2016+) use 2.5″ unions on both the intake and the discharge of the filter tank. The assembly may use an o-ring (805-0232) or a ribbed flat gasket (711-6020). They are available in both white and black, and with a few different adapters, 2″ slip being the most popular. All parts are available at http://www.waterwayparts.com

MEGA TELEWEIR SKIM FILTER

“MEGA” Teleweir is a extra large housing designed for swim spas. The cage style tower eliminates “vortexing” created by the larger swim spa pumps. High capacity 2.5″ socket in/out plumbing and a built in check valve. The hole size needed is 8.5″ diameter and the overall height is 27.5″ to top of weir cap.  This is a 75 square foot cartridge (7″ diameter, 16.25″ tall with closed top) Available at http://www.waterwayparts.com

Part number 519-8350 is molded into the cap.(this is not the part number for the entire unit.  The entire filter in “black” with no logo is 510-4570

Replacement cartridge is available 817-4175 (must be OEM)

DYNA-FLO PLUS Top Mount spa filter
Telescoping weir and deep basket will capture lots of surface debris from your spa. The opening cut in your spa shell would be 6.875″ diameter. These Waterway Plastics skim filters will retro fit the Dynamic Series Rainbow skim filters. Pictured is the “grey” 50 square foot model 510-4557. Waterwayparts.com  carries all the parts for these filters: baskets, trim rings, filters, and whole bodies.

411-9210 3 inch sweep elbow

21 Apr

The Waterway 3 inch sweep ells provide increased hydraulic
performance and efficiency for the pool/spa plumbing
system, resulting in improved pump and filter
performance. The Sweep Elbow provides the great advantage in swim spa plumbing for unfiltered current flow that drives swim jets. Great in combination with Waterway Viper pumps.

Why only replacing the valve internals is a good idea…

25 Jan

1. You do not remove valve from tank.
2. No plumbing needs to be disconnected.
3. Only six bolts are removed. Internals lift straight out.
4. Job only takes 5 minutes.

However, if the valve body is cracked this will not repair the leak. If your valve is leaking out the backwash port when the valve is on filter, this is the easiest fix. Entire valve WVS003 cost $109.99 or the “key cover” $84.99 Part number 600-9600

Filter “plumbed backwards”

24 Oct

Simply put, waterlines that attach to the “inlet” and “outlet” on the filter canister were reversed during installation. In this case, the water flow through the filter element will be from the “Inside-out” rather than the “outside-in” (as the filter was intended). Debris (or DE powder) rapidly accumulates on the inside of the pleats, water flow is restricted, and the cartridge begins to expand. Eventually, the cartridge’s end cap will split, releasing the internal pressure. The filter element is now being by-passed in the filtration cycle.

How can you tell if your system is plumbed backwards?

  • Is the nature of the split in the end cap similar to this?
  • Peel back the broken top and examine the pleats. Is there dirt accumulation on the inside of the pleat pack?cracked damaged pool filter cartridge
  • Does the support band on the outside of the cartridge, if present, appear stretched and wrinkled?
  • Do the outside of the pleats appear rounded and puffy?

If you are still not sure if your filter is plumbed backwards, shut down the entire system and completely bleed the canister pressure. Remove the cartridge and with the lid off quickly turn the pump on and off. Observe which port is delivering the feed water and assure that it is the “inlet.”

WATERWAY PRO CLEAN LIDS

25 Aug

PROCLEAN ORIGINAL AND PRO CLEAN PLUS

Pictured on right is “old” style Pro Clean tank and lid (75 sq ft. used as example)

Pictured on left is “new” style Pro Clean Plus tank and lid.

The lid for the older style is no longer manufactured, to replace lid you will need to use the Pro Clean Plus lid. Notice the locking clips are different. The new style lock ring has 2 hand holds, not 4. If you use the “new” style lid on the “old” style base the white lock tab will need to be removed and the yellow (2) safety lock tabs on the new lid will serve no purpose. The “new” lid has an improved air relief valve, built in lid handles, and a bottom mount pressure gauge. If you need technical assistance call Waterway Parts at 210-650-4034

HYBRID

Pictured on the far left is the “old” style Pro Clean base with a “new” style Pro Clean Plus lid installed.

There are 3 sizes (heights) of lids , small(75 & 100), medium(125 & 150), and large( 175 & 200), this info is true of all 3 sizes.
