Proline Cartridge filter

31 May

The oring that seals the top lid of your Proline cartridge filter may need to be replaced. Never lubricate this oring with petroleum-based products (like vaseline). Teflon or silicone based lubricants will make the oring last longer. We have the orings and several other parts for the Proline filters at http://www.waterwayparts.com Part # 805-0460

Just to make things a little more complicated, there were several different versions of this filter. You may want to email a photo of your exact filter to ensure you get the right parts.     sales@waterwayparts.com

Baqua Polisher

27 May

The lids and o-ring for your polisher are available at http://www.waterwayparts.com. Chlorine tablets can gum up the seal and be cause for replacement. There were different lids used, however this is the most common. Did the original lid have two small tabs(wings) as pictured?

In Line chlorinator maintenance

26 May

The Waterway In Line chlorinator requires some maintenance. If the tablets do not seem to dissolve because the chamber is dry, you may need to replace the control valve. The “rubber ” stopper on the end of the valve can swell and block of flow into the tablets. The valve stem assembly can be replaced fairly easily. The valve should be unscrewed a few turns, then the part that shows the settings should be un screwed, then the valve, then the settings ring….until the valve can be pulled out. The new valve is replaced the same way. There are 2 threads, one on the valve stem and another on the settings ring. The valve stem replacement part # is 600-1207 (for models 2007 and later) The older style models require part # 600-1190. Both valve stems are available at http://www.waterwayparts.com
Both parts have detailed images that will make it easy to identify which stem you need.

How do I change my filter sand in my Baquapure tank?

23 May

For our top mount filter – You must first disconnect the pipes or hoses leading into the valve and open the drain plug on the filter. Next, remove the nut or clamp holding the multi-port valve to the tank body. Once the valve has been removed, you will be able to see the sand bed. The best way to remove the sand is to use a portable wet/dry vacuum (recommended). Once the old sand has been removed, hose out the inside of the tank to clean the filter out. Once this water is drained, replace the drain cap and fill the tank ½ – ¾ full of water, and place the sand fill guide on the standpipe. This is to protect the lateral assembly while the new sand is added. DO NOT allow the sand to enter the vertical pipe sticking up from the bottom of the filter tank. Add the sand slowly till the laterals are fully covered. Remove sand fill guide prior to installing the multi-port valve.

Weir door? or Weird door?

18 May

The “WEIR” door for your skimmer is an important item. The weir door or “flap” floats on the surface of the pool water when the pump is operating. This action creates an added suction into the skimmer area, much like the way water picks up velocity at the top of a waterfall. This added water current pulls more surface debris into the skimmer box. The second important value to the weir door is when the pump stops running. The weir door then floats up and keeps the debris in the skimmer basket from floating back out into the pool. The bottom line is , if your weir door is gone or broken it is important to replace it. Rec Warehouse used Waterway thru wall skimmers on their above ground pools. The weir door for those skimmers is available at www.waterwayparts.com  Our part # is 542-3060

In ground pools with Waterway skimmers like the Renegade use different size weir doors.

Waterway Cartridge filters: Do sharp pleats make a difference?

12 May

Cleanability:
sharp folds increase the spacing between pleats making it easier to flush out loose debris.

Eliminates bridging:
allows particles to get down into the pleat instead of laying across the top of two or more pleats. This assures maximum dirt holding.

Full utilization of the pleat surface:
allows debris to build up from the inside out, critical to obtaining the maximum cycle life between cleanings.

Maximizes flow, minimizes pressure loss – by decreasing the surface contact between the inner pleat knuckle and center tube.

Replacing your pump?

12 May

The “wet end” is a term pool professionals use to describe the pump. Not the “motor”, the pump. The pump is usually plastic, and not only do they come in different horse powers, but they are made to fit different ” size” motors. 48 frame or 56 frame describe the different “mounting” points (the place where the motor bolts to the pump). Check this diagram to decide what pump you will need. As a general rule, above ground pools use 48 frame motors, 56 frame motors are usually used on spas. Check out the descriptions at www.waterwayparts.com

My pump is running, but there is no pressure. Why?

12 May

Many pool owners use this term when in fact they really mean they have lots of pressure but their flow is very low. This is caused by a dirty or clogged filter, a blocked return line, or a valve that is shut off or partially shut on the return piping.

The pump’s impeller may be clogged with debris. Check by first shutting off the pump. Remove the basket and check the impeller by putting your finger into the suction hole found in the pump strainer housing. If the seal is broken, replace it. Refer to your Owner’s Manual that is supplied with your pump (also available online under the product page for your pump), or contact your local pool dealer. http://www.waterwayparts.com
