Starting July 19th, 2021 the Department of Energy new regulation will go into effect making it illegal to operate most single speed pool pumps due to the efficiency and energy consumption associated with single speed motors and pumps. As of July 19th, 2021 all newly installed, refurbished, and replacement pumps installed on filtration systems will need to be compliant with the new regulations.
These new regulations are specific to the motors not the “wet ends” Parts for all of the plastic pumps are still available at http://www.waterwayparts.com. However, the motors of the single speed Hi Flo pumps will no longer be available in the 2 hp versions. The 2 hp “uprated” pump has actually been a 1.5hp “full rated ” pump. Different names for the same product, same maximum rpms, and same gallons per minute output.
As of July 2021 the strongest single speed Hi Flo pump will be the .95hp “full rated” or in the past known as the 1.5 hp “uprated” pump.
