Why is the filter short cycling ,building pressure quickly after backwashing ?

Refer to Waterway’s owners guide for proper backwashing procedures. It may be that you are not backwashing long enough. Always backwash until the water is flowing clean/clear through the waste adapter fitting.

You may have live algae causing the filter to clog. You may also have mineral deposits building in the sand bed.

It is highly recommended that you have your water tested by your local pool/spa professional or dealer. Compare those results with your own. You may need to update your test kit or replace the testing solutions.

DIVERTER VALVE ASSY. W/GASKET

If your Baquapure or Aquastar sand filter valve is leaking out the backwash port, you may need to replace this diverter. When the gasket gets worn it allows water to travel in between the different valve positions. You are actually backwashing at the same time you are filtering. Why is dirt/sand passing thru my filter?

A lateral could be cracked or broken, the multi-port valve may need  servicing, or too much air may be passing through the filter, causing a  channeling effect, which permits dirt to get by the filter.

There may be a broken or cracked lateral located on the manifold of your  filter. You will need to inspect these laterals and replace them if  necessary. All these parts are available at www.waterwayparts.com

The Pro Clean D.E. filter element is available. Namco customers can purchase a replacement cartridge at www. waterwayparts.com This element is still being produced although Namco does not stock it. Part # 817-1610

Waterway Executive Spa pumps

Executive 56 and Executive 48 spa pumps can have different face plates (suction side). They are listed as 2″ or 2.5″. The actual outside thread dimensions are 2″ = 2 15/16 and 2.5″ = 3.5 This fitting will convert the 2″ faceplate to the 2.5″ faceplate. It is a simple inexpensive way to match the “wrong pump” to your existing spa plumbing. When ordering a Waterway Executive (or Niagra) pump be sure to check the size of the suction side fitting before ordering from http://www.waterwayparts.com. If you are unsure whether it is 2″ or 2.5″ simply order the 2″ pump and also purchase this adapter.

I’m not a person that usually writes these types of e-mails, but because of the outstanding service that you and the tech at Waterway provided to me I felt I had to let you know. Your personal commitment to helping me get the original part in the shortest amount of time was extremely helpful, but after realizing I had the wrong part you really went over and above the level of customer service that most company’s provide. Calling me back and identifying that the broken multiport that I had was not a Waterway model and that you could not provide a replacement was disappointing, but you continued to help! Taking the next step to have a service tech discuss the issue with me and try to solve the problem is really the definition of great customer service. Him telling me that I could possibly salvage my situation by mixing the parts of the new multiport I ordered and my existing unit may be a solution.

Just wanted to let you know, my filter is now fully functional and working thanks to you and a service tech from Waterway. I really appreciate the assistance you both gave to me when I needed technical assoistance the most.
