Waterway Pump Traps

21 Mar

These Waterway pump traps look similar, but they are not interchangeable. Before you order a replacement be sure to check the size of the union nut that connects the trap to the face of the pump. The union nuts are different sizes and are labeled with different part numbers(as shown in lower pics). Trap 310-6500 will fit the Hi Flo and Hi Flo II pumps. Trap 310-5400 will fit the Iron Might, E Series, Spa Flo, TWM, and Center Discharge pumps.

ECO-KLEER SAND FILTERS

16 Jun

ECO-KLEER FONT

Waterwayparts.com can help you with your Eco-Kleer sand filter. If you need a parts list or replacement parts we ask you email your requests to sales@waterwayparts.com.

Because some of the parts may change from year model it is always helpful to include a image of your particular filter system.

Sand in your filter should be changed every 3-5 years. This might be a good time to inspect the laterals in the bottom of your tank to be sure they have not developed any cracks. If you have been getting sand shot back into your pool this could be the problem.

There are other issues that can cause the same problem. If the “spider gasket” in your top mount multi port valve is worn , or the spring in the valve is weak, or you have incorrectly attached your filter hoses you may also see sand on the bottom of your above ground pool.

Waterwayparts.com has all the parts needed to repair the multi-port valve or you may want to just purchase an entire new valve. Just email any questions to sales@waterwayparts.com

Automatic Chlorinators

20 Jan

The Waterway automatic chlorinator is a very efficient way to chlorinate your pool with large or small Trichlor tablets or Bromine slow-dissolving tablets to make sanitizing your pool or spa easy and automatic. If you do not have this unit, your options are;

1. Put the tablets in a floater

2. Put the tablets in the skimmer basket

3. Put the tablets in the pump basket

Any one of these three options will present you with a problem. The use of a floater is the lack of the ability to get the proper amount of chlorine in your pool. Since you do not have water flowing into the floater to dissolve the tablets, your pool water is going to be usually low in chlorine with the result being green water and algae build up.

When you place the tablets into your skimmer basket, they dissolve very quickly and it becomes very difficult to maintain the proper amount of chlorine in the pool. It can also deteriorate your skimmer basket and the seals and o-rings on your pump and filter. If you turn the pump off, chlorine will flow back into your pool causing a white stain in front of your skimmer.

If you place the tablets into your pump basket, they are also dissolving very quickly here and chlorine levels could be too high. This also will cause your pump seal to start leaking and your o-rings to wear out quickly with possible pump damage.

The automatic chlorinator is installed after the filter in the water return line going to the pool. It should be the last thing the water goes through before returning to your pool. These units are completely enclosed systems – no escaping fumes. Simple, trouble-free designs with no special venting required. Top loading makes it easy to add chemicals. You remove the lid and place the tablets inside. There is a control knob with different settings that will let you control the amount of chlorine being released into your pool. Note that every pool is different and you will need to adjust the settings based on your particular pool. Automatic chlorinators save time, reduce manual handling of chemicals and take the work and worry out of keeping your pool sparkling clean and ready to use.  Try the Waterway CLC 012  @ waterwayparts.com

HI FLO PUMP (BAQUAPURE) has been re designed!!

7 Oct

Old style Hi Flo vs. New style Hi Flo II

Old style Hi Flo vs. New style Hi Flo II

The height of the discharge fitting has changed. The “old style” Hi Flo pump was 7 1/2″ from bottom of faceplate to the top of the discharge fitting. The “new style” Hi Flo II is 8 3/16th ” to the discharge fitting.  On a sand filter this should not have any impact. On some cartridge filters it may prove a problem. If there is a hard union in between the tank and the pump the height of the pump can cause you to “re plumb”. Although the threads on the intake and discharge are the same, their placement may cause you to use a “different ” connector to your filter, or you may have to move the pump a slight distance farther from the filter tank.  We can help you with the fittings needed to convert @ http://www.waterwayparts.com

Vac plate

21 Apr

DSC03643For many pools, skimmers also provide a connection point for vacuum systems. When you want to sweep the pool, a specially designed vac hose is connected through the skimmer using a vacuum plate, and when the pump is turned on, the suction will now power your pool vac.

Can I run my pump without water?

12 May

ECOWaterway pumps should never operate without water. The pump seal assembly in the pump volute (area between the strainer basket and the pump motor) protects the pump motor from pool water. This seal assembly gets hot and is cooled by the pool water. If the pump is running without water, the seal will overheat and melt, if left running without water for a long period of time, the heat generated could damage the PVC pipe and other system components.

How to prepare your pool for a hurricane

29 Oct

There are several steps you should take to prepare your pool before a storm hits.
The No. 1 rule: Do not empty your pool. Sufficient water levels provide weight to hold a pool in place when heavy rains raise the local water table , Otherwise, the storm could cause the pool to pop out of the ground and crack tiles. In the case of an above ground pool, without water it will be blown down.
Shut down your Waterway pump and motor, at the breaker box if possible, and cover them with plastic to prevent them from being drenched.
Waterwayparts recommends that you put extra chlorine in the pool. This can prevent impurities from building up.
Remove all loose items, pool equipment, toys and furniture from the pool. The furniture can crack the pool finish.

The seal needed for this baquapure pump is part # 319-3100B . Although your Rec warehouse store may have closed , all of the filter parts are still available on line at www.waterwayparts.com
