Waterway Sand Filter Valve Repair

5 May

The most common problem with the multi port valve on a sand filter is the “spider gasket” (711-1910b), but replacing it can be a bit complicated. There are three different solutions for the repair. The easiest is to replace the entire internal assembly (600-9600)this method allows you to keep all the filter hoses attached and just remove the six bolts at the top of the valve. The assembly can only be re-inserted one way because of the notch in the side of the lid (you can’t mess it up).The second method is replacing the “plug” this method has the gasket already secured to the diverter but does require removing the handle and compressing the spring. The hardest but most economical fix is to replace the spider gasket only, but this entails removing the old gasket and properly securing the new gasket to the plug. Securing the gasket to the plug requires a level of expertise. You can try using 2 or 3 drops of super glue to hold it on to the plug. All these parts are available at http://www.waterwayparts.com

6 Port Manifold by Waterway

8 Apr

1 1/2 Inch Slip X 1/2 Inch Slip end style PVC manifold with 6 ports. This manifold is no longer available, but there is a easy alternative when working in tight spaces with spa plumbing. The 6 port manifold to 2 ” slip is still anufactured and will only require one additional fitting to reduce the 2″slip to 1.5″ slip. 421-4070 is the Waterway reducer to make this conversion.

How to replace Waterway Clearwater II pressure gauge

28 Feb
ClearwaterII, Premium Blue, First Choice, EcoKleer,ClearBay

The lid of the cartridge (or DE) filter will need to be removed to access the gauge lock nut. The lock nut(519-7441) should be unthreaded from the pressure gauge adapter (519-7431). The pressure gauge adapter is then pushed up through the lid, it is not threaded.

Complete gauge assembly (830-4000CW2)

The pressure gauge adapter oring ( 805-0116EPB) is the smaller of the 2 orings. The larger Oring (805-0136B) fits the pressure gauge. The pressure gauge(830-4000) requires teflon tape to be threaded into the adapter.

Waterway Pump Trap Lids

25 Jan

Trap lids for SMF, Champion, Hi-Flo, E Series, and many more………..

The correct part number for the Waterway pump trap lid can be confusing. The three lids pictured above are all interchangeable, they all use the same oring (805-0436). The original lid (319-3260) was re designed with 2 pieces in 2016 to make it more durable and easier to remove. The lock ring was re worked in 2022 to make it easier to grip. The clear lid piece(319-3228) remained the same.

Just to add a little more confusion the trap lid for the SVL and Supreme pumps( 511-1310) looks like the original lid because it is one piece and all clear plastic, but it is a larger diameter(8.25″) and uses a different oring (805-0439)

Freeze and Power Outage Advice

19 Dec

While having water move through the pipes is the best protection against freezing conditions, this is not possible during a loss of power event. Below are steps you can do to help minimize damage to your pool and equipment during a loss of power event. These steps should only be done in the event of power loss as running your pumps if a far better option in freezing conditions.

  • Turn off your breakers. While you may not have power now, the first thing you should do is turn off all electrical breakers to your pool so that when the power does return, you can assess your pool in a controlled environment before everything turns back on and potentially causes more damage.
  • Remove lids, drain plugs & strainer pots. During freezing conditions, frozen water expands and needs a place to go. Removing the lids & strainer pots from your pumps will allow the freezing water extra space for the built up pressure. You also need to remove the drain plugs from your pump pot, pump volute, heater and multi-port valve. While most frozen plugs can be removed by hand, you might need pliers for extra leverage.
  • Open all valves. Similar to removing lids, opening valves can help relieve pressure in your system. Opening all 2-way, 3-way, and filter’s air relief valve can help reduce damage.
