Baquapure cut-off valve

28 Aug

This valve makes cleaning your “trap” easy. If the strainer basket in front of your Baquapure pump gets clogged it can cause the pump to overheat and actually melt the internal parts. Keep it clean by inspecting the basket on a weekly basis. Close your cutoff valve to stop the water from your thru wall skimmer. Remove the clear trap lid. Clean basket. Do not forget to open the valve again before starting the Baquapure pump again. This valve is available at www.waterwayparts.com    Part # wv001

Waterway Cartridge filters: do sharp pleat folds make a difference?

16 Aug
  • Cleanability:sharp folds increase the spacing between pleats making it easier to flush out loose debris.
  • Eliminates bridging:allows particles to get down into the pleat instead of laying across the top of two or more pleats. This assures maximum dirt holding.
  • Full utilization of the pleat surface: allows debris to build up from the inside out, critical to obtaining the maximum cycle life between cleanings.

Maximizes flow, minimizes pressure loss – by decreasing the surface contact between the inner pleat knuckle and center tube.

Rec Warehouse most popular cartridge was # 817-0125n (left) . This cartridge is 23 5/16″ tall and 8 15/16″ diameter. It is available at www.waterwayparts.com

REC WAREHOUSE BAQUAPURE PUMP REPAIR

16 Aug

The Rec Warehouse Baquapure pump is a two speed pump. The impeller is threaded onto the end of the motor shaft. If your  pump seal leaks it can corrode the shaft of the motor. If this occurs,  the impeller and seal will most likely need to be replaced. This is the most common impeller. #310-4010 . Your Baquapure pump may be listed as a 2.5 hp (uprated) it will normally use this impeller (full rated). It is available at www. waterwayparts.com

The seal needed for this baquapure pump is part # 319-3100B . Although your Rec warehouse store may have closed , all of the filter parts are still available on line at www.waterwayparts.com

Why is dirt ? sand passing thru my sand filter?

8 Aug

A lateral could be cracked or broken, the multi-port valve may need servicing, or too much air may be passing through the filter, causing a channeling effect, which permits dirt to get by the filter.

There may be a broken or cracked lateral located on the manifold of your filter. You will need to inspect these laterals and replace them if necessary.
http://www.waterwayparts.com carries all Waterway multi port valves.

Symptoms of Spa Pump Failure

5 Aug

There are several signs of hot tub pump failure:
• Malfunctions that prevent the motor from turning, including frozen shaft or bearings, may result in a humming noise.
• A jammed impeller (inside the wet end) can do the same, as can a defective starting capacitor.
• Badly worn bearings may cause a whining noise.
• Leaks around the pump often indicate a failure of the pump seals. You will likely observe a puddle of water below the pump when these seals go bad.
You could replace these individual components (we carry the parts). But if your pump is more than a couple years old, it is generally better to replace the entire pump– motor and wet end. This is a cleaner and much easier repair, which results in a greater reliability factor in the long run.
Pumps are basically comprised of two main components: the wet end containing an impeller (which moves the water) and the electric motor (the dry end) which turns the impeller.
Get as much information from the stickers attached to the pump motor. Model number, amps, horse power, ect. We can find the proper replacement pump for you at http://www.waterwayparts.com

Do I need to lubricate my chlorinator lid o-ring?

3 Aug

Yes. The lid o-ring should be lubricated at least once per month to maintain its elasticity.

A silicone-based lubricant should be used as it holds up better to the chlorine gas. Silicone or Teflon based o-ring lubricant is recommended on all o-rings used on Waterway product.
